Dental implants are the most ideal tooth replacement options and are one of the best long-term investments you can make in your smile if you are missing one or more teeth. To help our patients learn more about dental implants and their benefits, we have answered the top dental implant FAQs we hear in our Scarborough, ON office. These questions are simply a starting point, and we encourage all our patients considering dental implants to schedule a consultation with us. We will be able to assess your oral condition, provide treatment recommendations, and help you determine if dental implants are right for you.
Dental implants act like your natural teeth and are the only permanent tooth replacement option. Implants replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or an entire dental arch, and once surgically placed, can last more than 40 years. Long-term, dental implants provide both a highly effective solution and an overall savings on cost.
Virtually all patients quality for dental implants, no matter their age or oral condition. Dental implants only require that there is enough bone in the jaw to support them securely. If there is not, bone grafting to add more bone volume to the jaw will ensure candidacy for patients.
The cost of dental implants relies on many factors, including your unique oral condition, the number of teeth missing and their location in your jaw, the severity of jaw bone loss, etc. Cost is determined on a case-by-case basis after you have received a comprehensive consultation and evaluation.
We have training and experience in precisely placing dental implants using advanced technology. This improves the predictability of long-term success of dental implant surgery and allows us to provide the most custom and accurate dental implant restorations for you.
We provide nitrous oxide, along with numbing the entire treatment site with local anesthetic. You should not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. After surgery, you may be prescribed medication to alleviate the temporary post-operative pain.
We work with a trusted dental lab to restore your implants, no matter if you need a single tooth or a full arch of teeth replaced. If you need to replace a single tooth, we color-match and shape the dental crown to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. Full arch restorations are designed to complement your smile and face with the most ideal color, shape, and size of your new teeth.
You can treat your dental implants like natural teeth, brushing and flossing them daily. We recommend that you also visit your Scarborough, ON dentist twice a year for dental checkups and routine dental cleanings.
