If your teeth feel sensitive when exposed to hot or cold temperatures or your teeth appear to be lengthening, you may have gum recession. While the traditional treatment route calls for grafting of the tissue and sutures, our dentists are specially trained in the Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST™). This technique is a much less invasive alternative to gum grafting, eliminating the need to incise the gum tissue in one or more locations. In fact, the Pinhole® Surgical Technique does not require that scalpels or gum grafts be used at all, as the tissue is repositioned by a special tool inserted through a tiny “pinhole” made in the gums. Most patients are pleased to find that the Pinhole® Surgical Technique is almost painless and notice an improvement in the cosmetic appearance immediately following treatment.
The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a treatment process that can often be completed in a single appointment at our dental clinic in Scarborough, ON, even if more than one area has gum recession. Our doctors have received PST training and are equipped with the proper tools to carry out these procedures for our patients. Using specialized tools, we gently reposition the gum tissue back over the tooth roots, then place collagen strips to stabilize the area and encourage new tissue growth. If multiple quadrants have gum recession, the Pinhole Surgical Technique can commonly be used to treat all of these areas during one visit!

As The Ministry of Health has begun to lift some restrictions, we are now able to welcome you back! The office is now open to urgent and emergency patients. While many things have changed since then, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to our patients health and safety here at Dentistry at Consilium.
